Right, this is about what I said last night, in that huge e-mail of mine. Now I spoke to mum about it and she agreed that my happiness is the important thing. But, she did argue that a qualification in something versatile like English would affect the quality of life I can provide you in the future. You wanna live in a nice big house? Then I need a career same as you. Wanna see the world, see Greece and Rome and all of America? Then with the right degree I could get us there easy peasy.
Before I continue I gotta tell you a story; you know I say all my family are cock ups? Well, strictly speaking that's not 100% true. See I have this uncle, David, absolute genius. Mum always says I get my analytical mind from him. David went to uni, took English lit and while he was there he met a girl called Katherine. I'm told she was pretty and a genius too, but in her own way. She was an artist, an incredible one at that; if you look in the book where I drew your drawing, when it's folded out you'll see some red flowers, that's my attempt at mimicking her work. Anyway at uni David and Katherine fell in love and when they were done David used his English degree to teach all around the world and he took Katherine with her. They saw everywhere they ever wanted to see before settling in Tai-wan where they worked together to produce books with his poems and her art. They did this together and loved each other in complete happiness, that was clear whenever you saw them. Well it was anyway. Katherine died on the first of October and it's clear David isn't the same anymore, he goes on her Facebook sometimes just to be close to her
If I can learn one thing from my uncle David it's, to be happy in life you need something to keep you occupied and you need someone to be able to share it with, on the bright side I'm half way there and the more I think about it the more job options i can think of, some with a degree (like English, like David) and others without. We can't do it now what with exams and that but I really really think we can plan this properly and come up with a future that works for us both, today the idea of nursing popped into my head, not badly payed, I'd be able to work in whatever city you go to uni in and I'd be happy helping people I think, but that's one of many, many options.
Does this all make sense? I think it does, get back to me if you can but if you're working you can tell me what you think tomorrow okay
